The International Youth Summer School will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2020 with previous editions being held in Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Russia and Croatia with the past four editions taking place in various cities across China.
This year's Summer School will be held in Reykjavik, Iceland in cooperation with the University of Iceland and other local and international partners.
Sessions will focus on the theme of ‘Future Skills for Workplace Sustainability: Preparing for Transition’.
Technology and Innovation have already brought many changes to the job marketplace, leading to a disruption of the skills that are needed. Not only is this happening now, but it is happening rapidly, and it is continuing to evolve on a near daily basis with the introduction of robotic automation, technical innovations and digitalization set to cost millions of jobs worldwide.

The International Youth Summer School in Iceland will help to prepare young adults for the changes that are pending now and likely in the future. We will learn and analyze the most influential trends in the development of the different areas in global society and what the outline of skills, education and training for sustainable future global development will be. We will study how to avoid becoming an obsolete figure in an ever-developing world and explore new ways to ensure that the role of young adults as working professionals remains sustainable.

Youth Time International Movement provides a platform where youth can participate, collaborate and come together to discuss important global issues no matter their cultural, religious or political background.

Cultural Exchange

The International Youth Summer School is not only highly educational but it is also an entertaining experience. A cornerstone of any Youth Time International Movement event is a diverse variety of cultural activities that allow participants to capture the essence of the events host city. Participants will be given the opportunity to take in the sights & sounds of some of the cities most notable attractions whilst also sampling some of the local cuisine.

Captivating Events

Every Summer School features a few featured events including the Welcome Reception and Closing Ceremony/Farewell party. Guests will dine in style, sampling some of the finer aspects of Icelandic cuisine in beautiful surroundings. The Welcome Reception and Farewell party are events not to be missed as they will also feature many distinguished guests and high-profile faces with participants even gaining the chance to meet them.


Monday 10th August 2020 - Day I: Arrival Day - Welcome to transition

  • Registration day, settle down at the accommodation and get to know the people you will spend 5 days with at Ice-Breaking session and the Welcome Reception.

Tuesday 11th August 2020 - Day II: Study the theory

  • After the Opening Ceremony, be ready for an inspiring day full of lectures, masterclasses and workshops at the University of Iceland, with top experts from around the world.

Wednesday 12th August 2020 - Day III: Ready for Transition

  • Expect more talks, workshops, and seminars with experts of the field. In the evening you will enjoy some informal activities.

Thursday 13th August 2020 Day - IV: Cultural Transition

  • Cultural day: we will go for a day trip to explore Icelandic’s beautiful nature!

Friday 14th August 2020 - Day V: Case Study Transition

  • Study visits and workshops in local enterprises, to put everything you’ve learned into practice and to see real-life examples of good practice. In the evening, we will sum up the experience and say goodbye to each other at the Closing Ceremony and Farewell Party.

Saturday 15th August 2020 - Day VI: Departure day, Ready for Action
